Sweet question?

12 hours in Kolkatta and different types of “out of the world” Sandesh, Pedas, Mishti Doi and a dilemma already.
If someone introduces himeself as “Shwandeep” to me, what am I to call him—Shawndeep or Sandeep ?

actually, i would’ve asked the expert on such matters, shotyokey, but he’s too busy trying to get me to eat stale fish in the name of bong nationalism.

I bet you have heard this phrase before “When in Rome do the Romans”, so i think you should call him shwandeep. It will bring a smile on his face and you closer to another culture

I guess you have an identity that you should not loose. Mixing in the culture is okay. Just make sure you don’t forget that it is Samridhi and not Shawmridhi. She’ll bite you for it ;)
On a side note, some people might thing you are trying to make fun by saying it that way, and could be taken in negetive sense.
Also, will Shawndeep introduce himself as sandeep when he comes to Delhi or somewhere in northern India? I doubt. Just be yourself.. kaiko tension leti hai.. enjoy karo.. bengali babes—>bhalo ;)
and coming to the main point that I wanted to say, when you come to Delhi, make sure you bring loads of sweets for me :D hehe
